The aptly titled “Go” comes out of the gate strong and it’s evident immediately what kind of album you are about to hear…a good one. From the heartfelt “Extraordinary,” to the whiskey infused “Danville Train,” to the laugh-out-loud “Mustache Song,” Vrba’s stellar songwriting never lets up. Through the howl of the lap steel, the gentle roll of the grand piano, and Vrba’s uniquely powerful acoustic guitar playing, the 12 songs on “Go” (including a fantastic Willie Nelson cover) paint an amazing picture of life and love in the landscape of Everywhere America. Gas up the car, roll down the windows, pop in this cd, and “Go”! |

Last Spring, during one of the many impromptu sessions in JR's living room, he commented that out of all the shows he's seen me play, the intimate house "concerts" have always been his favorite. So we began to ask around and as it turns out, JR wasn't the only one who felt that way. It was then we decided to duplicate that experience so that those people without couches could enjoy that vibe as well. On July 31, 2005, we gutted JR's house, covered the place with giant pillows, invited 40 of our closest Denver friends, hired a recording engineer, and held a house concert. The experience was truly magical. This CD is a cross section of the songs recorded that day. It's raw, it's live, and it's not perfect...but hey, neither is your couch. |

His debut album "Everywhere In Between" (released in June of 2004), an extroverted and melodically undeniable look into love, life, family and humankind, beautifully showcases Vrba’s skills as a songwriter. Many of the songs on the album were written during, or inspired by his famous 3200-mile cross-country walk from San Francisco to Virginia Beach, and they truly illuminate the vision and simple brilliance of this old soul who is sure to be a fixture in the music world for a long time. For this album, Matt, and producer Adam Berkowitz, were able to line up a group of distinguished musicians including; Danny Eisenberg(Counting Crows and Ryan Adams), Adam Berkowitz(Noelle Hampton and Wake), Eric Schramm(Superdiamond), Mike Godwin(Heather Combs and The Doobie Brothers), and Austin DeLone(Elvis Costello and The Fabulous Thunderbirds. |
